Spring Break

It was spring break last week so Boo and I headed down to New Orleans and the Northshore for a fun-filled week with friends. We packed it all in for sure. Day 1: Breakfast at Camellia Grill then the Audubon Zoo. Day 2: Strawberry picking. We went crazy picking berries so made daiquiris, ice cream, and pie with our harvest. The pie was absolutely delicious but I forgot to write down the recipe. I asked my friend K to email it to me so once I receive it, I will post it. Day 3: Did the touristy thing and had beignets at Cafe du Monde then went to the Insectarium. Day 4: Went on a safari at the wildlife preserve. I also got to get my LA food in - gumbo, boiled crawfish, and my gotta-have oyster po-boy. What diet restrictions, right? Of course none of these activities compared to the time I got to spend with my girlfriends who I've known since we were kids.

By the way, I was pleasantly surprised at the number of tourists in the French Quarter. We only ventured around Jackson Square since the cafe was just across the street. Evidently since the Saints won the Superbowl (Who Dat!) there has been an increase in tourism. Awesome.
